Finishing Out 2024 with SketchBox…

Finally, I have completed #SketchBoxOctober2024, #SketchBoxNovember2024, and #SketchBoxDecember2024. And like in the past months of subscription boxes, I have loved every box and every tutorial, and trying it all out.

First we start with October…

Kuretake Brush Writer (Pink), *Sketchbox Exclusive* – Kuretake Ultimate-Zero Black Ink (20 ml), *New Product* – Copic Acrea (Dark Rose), Bamboo Reed Pen, King Art 7950 Gold Grip (Round Size 8), Art Alternatives 2-Well Cupcake Palette, *Sketchbox Exclusive* – Bienfang Mixed Media (4×5”, 160 gsm, 20 sheets)

This was a challenge for me…at this point, as rusty as I am at doing art, it’s all a challenge! Anyway, the prompt for this month was “silhouette”, so here we go. The paper wasn’t perfect for the amount of water I sometimes used for the media included in the box. And I used up all the Kuretake Brush (pink), I believe, but I used a lot. Loved it all, and especially the Copic Acrea pen…how fabulous is that.

Cute little flamingo…
A little mood-like silhouette…
And a colorful zebra…

Who doesn’t like a pink and black zebra? Or a VERY pink flamingo…or a deep pink sun setting on the horizon. Too much fun!

Next we have #SketchBoxNovember2024, and the prompt was “hair”. Loved being able to do some detail, which is always great for me.

Mixed Media Graphite Powder, Derwent Graphitint Pencil Set (Cocoa, Green Grey, and Juniper), Derwent Graphitint Pan Set (Meadow, Autumn Brown & Ocean Blue), Sketchbox Signature Flat Shader Brush (size 6), Art Alternatives 6-well Palette, Stillman & Bern Zeta White (270 gsm, 4×6”, 15 sheets)

All of this month’s graphite products were new to me, and I’m so happy for the opportunity to use them. Graphite gives a whole different level of granularity, and was perfect for “doing hair”. Thanks @getSketchBox!

Fancy hair…!

It’s hard to see in all of the pics I’m posting here, but you can see itty-bitty little granules, especially in the background. Using the graphitint pencils, along with the liquid graphite is really interesting, and I’ll be happy to use all items again. I found setting the tip end of the pencils provided a different look, rather than just using the drawing/coloring.

Couldn’t resist this headdress, along with the hair!
Mermaid…!

Since I’m a Pisces, I’ve always had a fascination with mermaids, (because I think I’m one), and enjoy drawing and painting them. Thanks @getSketchBox for all the encouragement and inspiration your monthly subscription boxes provide!

And lastly, we have the final box of 2024…

Beam Paints (in drawstring bag – Red, Green, Blue), Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolor Stick (Carbozole Violet), Copic Acrea (Silver), Windsor & Newton Cotman 111 Round (size 4), Sketchbox Hahnemuhle Sugar Cane Watercolour (4×6”, 290 gsm, 135 lb,  12 sheets)

First, let me say that the Beam paints are interesting, and full of pigment…they will last a long time, and it’s such a unique way of providing the natural paints in a piece of wood. These also have their own granulation. The Daniel Smith watercolor stick was new and different to me…wow…talk about deep intense color, and I found I liked using it by simply dabbing the wet brush on the end, and applying to the paper. It also mixed well in the palette with the Beam paints. The Copic Acrea silver pen was great for highlights, and jazzing things up.

Ring those bells…!
A “wash wreath”

It was hard for me to think Christmas with this one since it’s August, but I persevered, and got it done. It’s good practice for Christmas cards I’ll create in November. Again…enjoyed using the box full of goodies, and am looking forward to seeing what @getSketchBox has sent me for 2025! As usual…stay tuned…😁👏

#SketchBoxJuly2024, #SketchBoxAugust2024, and #SketchBoxSeptember2024…Reviews

As in the recent past, I am reviewing more @getSketchBox monthly subscription boxes. Maybe you wonder why I’m so far behind? Well, the true story is that I started this subscription effective June 2023 when going through a fairly serious health issue. I felt these boxes would distract me from my silly self, and they did because I looked forward to each month, but I did NOTHING constructive with the boxes until this Summer. So now you readers get to suffer from my ramblings and so-called renderings that are a result from each month.

For the #SketchBoxJuly2024, the box included the following:

Custom Faber-Castell PolyChroma Pencil 8 Set (Cadmium Orange,  Cobalt Green, Fuschia, Grass Green, Mauve, Naples Yellow, Ultramarine, Red-Violet), Finesse Colored Pencil Blender, Faber-Castell Creative Marker (White 1.5mm), SketchBox Signature Pencil Case, SketchBox Exclusive UglyBook Sketchbook

It’s usual, I thoroughly enjoyed this month’s box and had a good time with Summer fruit drawings. I know, I know…an apple is for Fall, but having grown up on an apple and peach orchard, I had to do an apple for memory’s sake.

Love a good crisp apple, don’t you?
A juicy fuzzy peach…!
And a slightly squished gardenia…

I had way too much fun with these pencils, and the white highlighter. I had never used a colored pencil blender, and let me just say…it is the bomb! So colored pencil blenders will be in my future..along with purchasing a really good set of colored pencils. #SketchBox…y’all are a bad influence – ha! I will have to say, the paper is really nice, except that I had trouble tearing it off the pad. Eeeeeeek…

The pencil case will definitely come in handy when out and about!

For #SketchBoxAugust2024, the box was full of wonderful watercolors…

Windsor Newton Cotman Watercolour Sketchbox Packet Set, Finesse, Sketchbox Signature Dual Brush, Jacquard Masking Fluid (Drawing Gum), Watercolour Bookmark Pad (300 g/m, 140 lb).

Since watercolor is a little bit in my wheelhouse, I had a great time with this month’s box, and using bookmark-sized paper was a different way to paint. The prompt for this month was “travel”, so in my mind, I visited the leaning toward of Pizza.

Yes, my rendition lists a bit differently than real life, but I don’t care!

And then I traveled to fantasy land, and did a tall skinny whimsical house.

Goofy, but fun…

This was a great box! The travel watercolor set of paints are so vivid and blend so well. The brush with the set is good, and the dual brush is great quality. And yes, I’m a believer in using mask to keep me within the lines, and provide some structure. Yay @getSketchBox…! Thanks so much!

And finally we have #SketchBoxSeptember2024. Let me just say that this month’s box was a real challenge for me, but in a positive way…just more things that I hadn’t ever used, and I definitely need to expand my small little art world.

Amsterdam Standard Acrylics (Pearl Green, Pearl, Pearl White, Pearl Violet, Pearl Red, Pearl Yellow, Pearl Blue, Oxide Black), Sketchbox Signature Dual Acrylic Brush (Chisel & detail ends), Stonehenge Aqua Color Press (Black Heavy)

The black paper is definitely something I had never used, along with the pearl acrylic tubes of paint. Took some getting used to, and will admit I threw one thing I did in the trash, but the further I went, the more comfortable I was with the paint. And at first, I used the wrong brush, and finally found the right one, and that made a huge difference. Funny at how that is!

The colors are distorted in the picture, but love the hummingbird!
Blue Jays are interesting birds, huh?

You can probably tell the hummingbird was the first BIRD (this month’s prompt) I did. We have resident hummingbirds here every Summer, and they’re so much fun to watch, and love the vivid colors of their feathers. Then the blue jay was the third try – not showing you the second try…it went in the trash! Mr blue jay was fun, and great practice for me.

As usual, stay tuned for the final 3 months’ worth 2024 SketchBox goodies.

Yet Another SketchBox Review – April, May and June 2024

I am embarrassingly posting my non-accomplishments for the next 3 months of #SketchBoxApril2024, #SketchBoxMay2024, and #SketchBoxJune2024. None of these turned out the way I would have liked.

Let’s start with April, which was a pastel-focused box of goodies. Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE everything SketchBox sends because they are boxes full of things I may not have familiarity of, or haven’t dabbled in ever, or maybe since high school art class.

PanPastel Artists Pastels (magenta, violet, burnt sienna tint) with sponges as blender), Sofft Applicators (additional tips), Faber-Castell Goldfaber (#123 & #132) Art Spectrum Colourfix Medium Tooth Deep Black 4×9”, 6 sheets, 230 lb
(Detail card missing)

From the above pic, you can see the contents of the box. Always love the colors chosen and the YouTube tutorials are VERY helpful to me. That doesn’t mean I’m successful. The little daubers sent for the pan pastels were very sensitive to, and for me, since the black sanded paper was rough, and I didn’t realize how the paper would destroy the tiny spongy ends. The first was supposed to be a sunset in the purple, magenta colors, but I obviously had trouble.

Yes, this is a sunset over water…don’t judge!

The second, I had better luck with in that I walked away from the pastels and did some thinking about it, telling myself I could do better, and to not get too awfully frustrated. I enjoyed the second attempt much more, and feel like I did better. The gladiolas came from our flower bed, and I do love gladiolas. My mother told me years ago that her mother’s favorite flowers were gladiolas, so I’ve tried to have some in my flower bed ever since.

And no, gladiolas leaves are not purple and magenta, but I like it anyway!

#SketchBoxMay2024 was challenging for me because I had trouble controlling the color after applying water to what I had brushed on. Having said that, I have historically been a pen and ink, and watercolor person. (And indulge in much detail). One thing I struggle with in all of these is the small paper (most are 4″ x 6″). I am used to something usually 11″ x14″ size. Having said that, I enjoy the exposure to the different forms of paper that are enclosed in each monthly box.

Custom Zig CLEAN COLOR Real Brush Set (416 Sea Green, 418 Billiard Green, 601 Sand, & 503 Summer Sun), Sketchbox Signature Oval Wash Brush (1/4”), Prismacolor Col-erase, Ecoline Duotip (407 Deep Ochre & 533 Indigo), Jacquard Watercolor Medium (Pearl White), Magnani Incisioni Bianca (4×6”, 10 sheets)

The first try with this month’s box is an orchid (love growing and tending my orchids). I’m telling you what it is because you probably can’t tell…ha! Plus, the speckles in the real orchid are purple and not teal. Again, I had a control issue and will definitely need to work on that, but it’s also the challenge that’s fun.

Pale yellow orchid

The second rendering is beachy because the “prompt” for this month’s box was “beach”. Again…I need to,practice and will try again, and probably on another larger piece of paper.

Can you say “beach”…!

I do like some of the watery effects in the horizon, and I used the Jacquard Pearl watercolor medium as a fine wash over the sky and the sand…it did make things a bit shimmery, but you can’t see it in this pic.

For the #SketchBoxJune 2024 box, the focus was on charcoal. Another medium I am not strong in, but I gave it a do-or-die try, and will continue to work with these things.

Nitrum Starter Kit (4 sticks charcoal, Sharpening Block), Rembrandt Soft Pastel  (Grey), Kneaded Eraser,  Hero Arts Ink Blender, Sharpie Peel-off China Marker (Black & White), Cretacolor Charcoal Pencils (3), Premium Art Paper Mixed Media  (medium grain surface, 150g/m, Grey Toned)
Moon in the clouds

I’m telling you what the rendering is since I’m not sure you can tell…! And it’s the same for the next try…it’s a cloudy moon with mountains and water in the fore ground. Yes, folks…I really, really, really need to practice with this.

Being brave just posting this!

To conclude…I had a mess after using the pastels and the charcoal, but both were easily cleaned up. Not only was my drawing surface covered in a fine layer of dust, but so was I. A pastel and charcoal spray fixative is necessary to seal any work you do when using these. Stay tuned for 3 more months of #getSketchBox reviews. 😁🥰

SketchBox Grab Bag…

Let’s talk #SketchBox…again…! Just can’t resist telling you, I recently discovered that SketchBox offers grab bags from time-to-time at a really, really good value. Think the bags are valued around $80, and you pay $35-ish (plus shipping). I received my first grab bag yesterday, and am thrilled!

Looked at all the goodies…!

These grab bags are like one of my favorite lines in the Forrest Gump movie about getting a box of chocolates…”you never know what you’re going to get.” But I’m so happy with everything. Some of the things I have from previous SketchBox monthly boxes, but some I didn’t, and it’s all GOOD. Can’t wait to use them all…so thanks #SketchBox for doing this. Look for #getSketchBox on Instagram and click the “shop” button. They only do this once in a while and quantities are limited. And since I love quotes, and Toby Keith is another of my all time favorites…”getcha some.” 😁😂

Fourth Review…#SketchBoxJanuary, #SketchBoxFebruary, and #SketchBox March of 2024

As I turned the corner into SketchBox monthly subscription items, I decided to do three at a time like the last 3 months of 2023.

The #SketchBoxJanuary of 2024 box took me way out of my comfort zone, dealing with charcoal, and pastels on colored paper. It was a great exercise for me since I hadn’t done anything with pastels or charcoal since high school, and I’m not telling how many years ago that was except to say I just attended my 50 year high school reunion. 😉

This month’s box included the following: Royal Talens Willow Charcoal, Derwent Drawing Pencils (Custom set: China White, Ivory Black, Light Sienna), CarbOthello Pastel Pencil ( Capul Martumm Red, English Deep Red), Rembrandt Soft Pastels (Half stick, 5 piece set – Rich Oranges), Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen Big Brush (White), Rembrandt Toned Paper (Sanguine Red).

Really, really enjoyed using everything in this box and the results are shown below in the pictures. The paper was really nice, and so were all the pencils, pastels, and charcoal. However, I will say it was messy, but not surprising given the content. Had to do some major scrubbing on my work surface afterwards, not to mention my own self!

Royal Talens Willow Charcoal, Derwent Drawing Pencils (Custom set: China White, Ivory Black, Light Sienna), CarbOthello Pastel Pencil ( Capul Martumm Red, English Deep Red), Rembrandt Soft Pastels (Half stick, 5 piece set – Rich Oranges), Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen Big Brush (White), Rembrandt Toned Paper (Sanguine Red)
This was a sunrise picture a friend sent me earlier in the Summer.
I’m now using the tiger’s eye as my profile pic on Instagram!
And then the full view of a tiger’s face…

Next is #SketchBoxFebruary of 2023. Back to using watercolor, but this was liquid watercolor…new to me, along with using a bamboo brush which I dearly LOVE now.

The box included the following: Schmincke Aqua Drop (Magenta, 30 ml), Jacquard HiTones Liquid Watercolor Set (Violet, leaf Green, 15 ml), Staedtler Triangular Colored Pencils (Green, Brown), Jacquard Bleed-Proof White, Zebra Sarasa (Black), Windsor & Newton Bamboo Brush (size 4),Bienfang Watercolor Paper (4×6, 12 sheets, 140lbs)

The paper was really nice, along with the variety of colors included. The colored pencils were wonderful to use, and something I will continue to use. I had never used colored pencils with watercolor, and I really like it. The bamboo brush is the BOMB…and I will enjoy using it in the future also…it can render many different strokes! The paper did buckle some, so I had to tape it down to keep from the buckling getting in the way, and causing effects I didn’t want.

Schmincke Aqua Drop (Magenta, 30 ml), Jacquard HiTones Liquid Watercolor Set (Violet, leaf Green, 15 ml), Staedtler Triangular Colored Pencils (Green, Brown), Jacquard Bleed-Proof White, Zebra Sarasa (Black), Windsor & Newton Bamboo Brush (size 4),Bienfang Watercolor Paper (4×6, 12 sheets, 140lbs)
Loved the bleed-proof white pen and the black Sarasa pen for highlighting and accenting the dragonfly.
And my goofy little fish turned out fairly well also.

And finally, #SketchboxMarch of 2024 utilized a selection of markers and pencils to be used in combination. I had some trouble with the shading on each drawing I do, but like I’ve said before, I desperately need practice, and will continue to do so.

This box included: Archer & Olive Paint Pen ( Shroom & Asparagus), Copic Calo (New Leaf, Moss, and Olive), Holbein Colored Pencils Set ( White, Fir Green, & Lamp Black), Hahnemuhle Manga Paper (4×6, 20 sheets, 80 gsm).

First let me say the paper seemed flimsy, but even though you loaded the paper with lots of blending and repeated layers of marker and pencils, it didn’t exactly bleed through onto the next sheet of paper. you could see it on the back of the paper, but it wasn’t wet, which I found interesting. And I can’t say I’m entirely happening with the outcome of what I f(noshed for the month, but again…I need to continue on.

Archer & Olive Paint Pen ( Shroom & Asparagus), Copic Calo (New Leaf, Moss, and Olive), Holbein Colored Pencils Set ( White, Fir Green, & Lamp Black), Hahnemuhle Manga Paper (4×6, 20 sheets, 80 gsm).
Obviously most all markers were a shade of green except for highlights in dark and light/white.
This month’s prompt was “succulent”, therefore a type of plant was in order.

Concludes my review of #SketchBoxJanuary of 2024, #SketchBoxFebruary of 2024, and #SketchBoxMarch of 2024. I’ll get caught up soon, and you’ll only have to worry about reading one of these reviews a month – ha! 😎👣👏

Third SketchBox Review – October, November & December 2023

This time we’ll review 3 month’s worth of SketchBox.com boxes for October, November and December of 2023. When reviewing 2024 boxes, we’ll do 3 at a time also.

For the #SketchBoxOctober box, the following are the items contained in the box:

SketchBox Signature Acrylic Ink Set, SketchBox Signature Liner Brush, SketchBox Signature Dagger Brush, Art Primo Hit-n-Go, Kuretake Bimoji Brush Pen, Higgins Drawing Ink, Sketchbox Exclusive Legion Hot Press Pad

Acrylic Inks are new to me, but have to say I liked them along with everything else in this month’s box. Couldn’t quite get the green color I wanted, as demonstrated in the YouTube tutorial, but I gave it my very best shot. All requires practice, practice, practice, which I don’t mind doing at all. I used the Higgins white drawing ink in the Art Primo Hit-n-Go for highlights, and it turned out to be great for that. Will remember for the future.

The use of a dagger brush was new to me, and is something I will definitely use in the future.

Pics of the samples I did, and contained in my SketchBox scrapbook.

The #SketchBox November of 2023 contained the following:

Curated Marabu Graphix Permanent Marker (6 set, Tangerine, Medium Blue, Stone Grey, Pink Candy, Yellow, Black),  Austin Zig Clean Color Dot Set, New Product – Faber-Castell Goldfaber Sketch Marker, General’s Cedar Point Pencil, Koala Tools Mini Ring Ruler, Exclusive Marabu Graphix Mixed Media Pad.

Again, the vast majority of the contents were all new to me, and the Koala Tools Mini Ring Ruler was fun. Have to admit that I use whatever jar, or can bottom, or other round thing I can find to do circles, but this will come in handy!

Also, mandalas are something new to me, suggested in the YouTube tutorial, so really enjoyed concentrating on circles, how they intertwine. The Zig Clean Color Dot Set added a whole lot to the exercises, and I will remember these for the future. I’m not quite as adventurous with some of this as I should be, but I’m getting there. The color choices for all the markers are fabulous!

SketchBox Scrapbook for November

The final month in this review is for #SketchBoxDecember of 2023. The prompt for this month was “snow globe”, but since I’m working on these in August, I basically did my own thing, and thought of faceted gems for the subject matter.

This box contained;

Faber-Castell Polychromas Colored Pencils (indianthrene Blue, Magenta, Juniper Green), Stoneground Gouache (Blue Spruce), Sketchbox Signature Round Brush (size 6), Uchida Le Plume Marker (white), Kuretake Zig Acrylic Liner (Gold), Rembrandt Rough Watercolor Paper

I have used colored pencils in the past, but had forgotten how much I enjoy using them, so going forward, I will do more with them. One thing I want to try is using a colored pencil solvent for blending…more new things to try!

Faber-Castell Polychromas Colored Pencils (indianthrene Blue, Magenta, Juniper Green), Stoneground Gouache (Blue Spruce), Sketchbox Signature Round Brush (size 6), Uchida Le Plume Marker (white), Kuretake Zig Acrylic Liner (Gold), Rembrandt Rough Watercolor Paper

I started with swatching everything out, as suggested, and then did the circle:

Used the Stonehenge qouache and all 3 colors of pencils, along with the white LePlume marker for highlighting.

My second trial was with a Ruby, and it was very exciting to do this, depicting the shading, along with the many facet details involved.

Again, I used all 3 pencils, the white for highlighting, and a little of the gold Zig Liner to add a little bling. The qouache served as a little background behind the Ruby.

And finally, I tied doing a London blue topaz pendant with gold and diamonds surround. (think I prefer the Ruby) Anyway, the pendant was more of a challenge, but you get the gist of things.

All 3 colors -f pencils were used, along with the gold and white pens. The base of the pendant is in the Stonehenge gouache, along with the background.

This concludes my review and samples for the final 3 months of #SketchBox for 2023. In a few days, I hope to show you the first 3 months for 2024.

Second SketchBox Review – August and September 2023

As in the previous post a few days ago, I am continuing to go through past boxes from the monthly subscription to SketchBox.com. This post contains my review of August and September of 2023…have to say I’m having too much fun with these.

Copic  Ciao (YG03), Copic Sketch (YG06), New Product – OLO Marker, Pan Pastel (bright yellow green), SketchBox Signature Blending Stump Set (3), Pentel Soft Eraser, Goldfaber Sketching Pencil (4H), Copic Multiliner (Olive, 3mm), Barden & Riley Bristol Pad

I had never used any of these products, so it was all a very beneficial learning experience. I have always just sketched with pencil, pen, done house portraits in pen and ink (the old fashioned way), using art markers to color in, if not just black and white, and done a little watercolor.

Because we live on a farm for 6 months of the year…late Spring, Summer, and very early Fall, I have used some of the pics I have taken along the way this season.

SketchBox Signature Opaque Watercolor Palette, Faber- Castell Watercolor Pencil, Faber-Castell Water Brush,  Copic Multiliner, Hahnemule Landscape Watercolor Book
The two pages in my Sketchbox scrapbook I’m keeping with samples of the tutorials recommended.

The August box contained the following: Copic  Ciao (YG03), Copic Sketch (YG06), New Product – OLO Marker, Pan Pastel (bright yellow green), SKEtchbox Signature Blending Stump Set (3), Pentel Soft Eraser, Goldfaber Sketching Pencil (4H), Copic Multiliner (Olive, 3mm), Barden & Riley Bristol Pad.

The picture below is my inspiration picture:

Hay bales…the weird artist in me LOVES them!

And now for my quick rendition:

The above images are from #SketchboxAugust of 2023.

Now for the next month, September, I again used inspiration from a yellow butterfly feasting on a thistle, and then sunflowers a friend brought over.

The Se-temper box had even more new products to me: Holbein Artist’s Gouache (Elm Green G849, Iron  Oxide Red G832, Gardenia Yellow G824, White G885), Archer & Olive Acrtlograph Pen, SKetchbox Signature Filbert Brush (size 6), Graduate Natural Mixed Media Pad.

I loved all these products, just like in the August box, and have thoroughly enjoyed starting to learn how to use them. Have to say that gouache is really, really nice!

The pages in the SketchBox scrapbook.

And now the up-close version of the sunflowers. I LOVE the darker sunflowers in particular.

Too pretty to resist!

First SketchBox Review – June & July 2023…

Been a while since anything has been posted, but in the future, will try to do better. Over two years ago, I decided to sign up for a monthly art subscription from a company called SketchBox.com. Admittedly, I didn’t do much with it for a very long time, and just recently have started I dulling myself in 26 months-worth of art supplies sent to me. And I have to say, I’m having so much fun, and am so very inspired by it all. There are so many things sent that I had no knowledge of, and because of that, had no real use for them until now. So stay tuned for more posts about my exploration into these products.

Below are pictures of my attempts at using the first monthly mailing from #SketchBoxJune of 2023. This box contained 4 colors of reactive ink, a multi liner Sketchbox pencil, brush, and paper, the details can be found on the SketchBox.com site.

I started a SketchBox scrapbook of sorts, and have inserted details of each shipment, plus examples of the exercises from the YouTube videos for each monthly shipment.

Custom Hero Arts Reactive Ink (Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Lemon Drop, & Fog), Copic Multiliner, Sketchbox Signature White Gel Pen, KingArt Gold 9000 Series Round Brush (Size 4), Magnani 104 Pesci White

And while I was at it, I also indulged in the #SketchBoxJuly of 2023 supplies, and after doing the tutorials, have I clouded pics below. This shipment contained a pan watercolor set, a water brush that will be wonderful for using while out and about (it holds water), along with a travel watercolor booklet to paint in, another multiliner for drawing, and a watercolor pencil. Too much fun…that’s all I can say!

Palette of pan watercolors

Color wheel (that I’m not very good at…yet). Everything takes practice.
The inspiration)nap word for this month was “EXPLORE”. I had taken this pic from a tv show, and would like to go back and do it properly, but you get the general idea.
Last, but not least, I tried to be a little loose (not easy for me), and tried these few colors. Kinda like it!

Again…stay tuned, I’ve already started working on the next 2 monthly boxes, and am excited to show you the result.

Time for an Update

It’s been a while since we have posted anything, so time for something new. Mostly what we have done in the past couple of years are some sewing and picture framing, along with a few pen/ink renderings and watercolors.

The Chapel at Nature Camp, Vesuvius, VA

This chapel was done 3 times…in watercolor, pen/ink (black and white), and then a color rendition of the pen/ink with art markers.

Pen/ink only
Pen/ink with art Marker

We’ve also done a lot of framing for a local artist here in Middlebrook. Here are some samples of the framing:

All frames are milled from old lumber in our woods shop and we cut the mats and glass her on site, too.
All of the above are prints and originals from the same local artist.

We also have made some wooden trays, featuring miniature boat cleats as handles. Again, the lumber is old, and milled here.

Trays in different sizes, some have detailed paintings.
Hydrangea Theme
And a mermaid, of course!

As for sewing, a lot of totes were made, and some have been monogrammed to personalize them.
